The high‑capacity railway linking Istanbul’s Halkalı to Kapıkule continues to advance. In April 2025, Alstom won the contract to supply a rigid overhead catenary system for a key section of the line.

The Çerkezköy–Kapıkule section is targeted to complete by end‑2025, with the Ispartakule–Çerkezköy and Halkalı–Ispartakule segments scheduled through 2028. The corridor will cut travel times and improve reliability for both passengers and freight, reinforcing Edirne’s role as a gateway to the EU.
